Thanks — D.C.

If nothing else, say 70’s Big is thankful.

I wanted to have a formal thank you to Jeremy, Phuong, and Courtney of CrossFit Anandale for, in no particular order, helping to set up and host the workshop, showing me around D.C., entertaining me with food, drink, and good company, and allowing everyone (including the attendees) to have a great time. They are now some of my favorite people, worthy of drinking with at the mead halls in Tamriel.

Thanks to the attendees for being a good crew and asking great questions. It was a pleasure and I hope you all have fun.

Thanks to Rudy and Laura from Outlaw CrossFit for letting me train at their gym. We also had a compelling interview that can be seen HERE on Rudy’s blog. It also includes me doing a weak-ass clean and jerk, the heaviest since “the Movember incident”. Also, check out Rudy’s programming; he makes some strong mother truckers over there.

  1. He did a shitload of clean and jerks. I think like 32 at 300, 20-30 more at 250, and a whole bunch more at 200ish. (those numbers are probably wrong)

This was all because of donations.

  2. Rudy talks about limiting metcons to 8-12 minutes, but todays metcon (after lifts) is a 20min fest..what’s up?

He does claim a couple 500lbs deadlifters and 400lbs squatters, impressive for a “box.”

Can’t speak for Rudy, but he’s prepping people for the CF games, so that would explain it, in my opinion.

  3. @bean, Rudy’s focus is on crossfit competition so occasionally workouts run into the 20-25 minute range. He also has another blog with separate programming for his athlete population.

Justin, I had a blast man. Thanks to Jeremy and Courtney for hosting and Il Mee for letting us ravage their meat selection.

  4. Justin, sounds like a rad weekend. Though I personally appreciate the Skyrim reference more than anything I’ve read today. I think it’s pretty obvious what race you picked.

  5. I have to say for anybody thinking of attending a seminar in the future, do it. It was really informative and money and time well spent. I hope there are more opportunities to connect with 70s big events in the future in the area. That was my first time at Crossfit Anandale as well. I look forward to some of the stuff Jeremy mentioned coming up. It’s a bummer I missed the photo though.
